From my Twilight Woods Collection- pieces inspired by nature using my technique of fusing clear glass to copper and firing at high temps in the kiln. Native copper from here in Michigan is used to make this free-form sculpture. Splash Copper is made by melting the copper to a molten form & pouring onto a flat surface. After it cools patina is applied, highlights of copper are brought to a high polish, and then anti-tarnish lacquer is applied. Wrapped with copper wire total length from top of bail is 3″ and it’s 1 1/4″ at widest point. This is my medium size. I also have large & small sizes available. I use an oval shaped piece of bright blue Turquoise (30mm x 22mm) in this design. Stone is bezel set in a decorative copper background with sterling silver scroll detail. This great texture is made by first hammering the copper. Then I apply a chemical patina that achieves the color green/blue that copper takes naturally as it ages. I added two different colored Turquoise nuggets & copper beads to set the pendant off. Pendant measures 1 1/2″ and is attached to a gorgeous copper filigree chain. 1 1/2″ extender for varied length 17.5″- 19″ with Turquoise drop at the end. Copper is sealed to prevent tarnish. Part of my Twilight Woods Collection…inspired by the way the setting sun glows through the trees in my back yard. I used my favorite gemstone in this pendant- Labradorite- and this is a great piece of it- the color play is a amazing! Stone is set in copper and I encased the stone with copper waves that I have enameled with clear glass to bring out the natural colors of the copper that occur from firing at very high temperatures. I enameled a 1 1/2″ copper disc with a clear glass enamel that I hand paint onto the copper and then fire in the kiln. The high temperatures bring out the great colors in the copper. Attached to a beautiful antiqued copper chain with lobster claw clasp for closure. You can attach the lobster claw to any of the links for varied length…longest is 23″. *Thanks for looking!
